Motorcyclist killed following head-on collision with ambulance in Colombia
A motorcyclist was killed following a head-on collision with an ambulance in Colombia.
“Accident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, on the Bogotá-La Mesa highway, where a
motorcyclist lost his life after crashing head-on into an ambulance.
Video shows the motorcyclist, who was in the middle of what was supposedly an illegal race with a group of companions, lost control of the motorcycle in the middle of a curve and fell to the ground.
Due to the high speed at which he was going, and taking into account that the road was a two-way street, the young man ended up invading the opposite lane where an ambulance was travelling, with which he ended up colliding head-on.
The medical services vehicle, which was travelling normally, was unable to avoid the collision, and although its driver tried to manoeuvre to avoid the crash, the speed at which the motorcycle was travelling was a determining factor in the tragedy.
The force of the impact was so strong that the man was left under the vehicle with no vital signs. This can be seen in the images, recorded by the motorcyclist who was traveling just behind him.
“Gerson, are you okay?” asked one of those who was also participating in the ride (also known as ‘candeleo’), as can be heard in the video.
Another clip showed a man, who appeared to be providing medical services (and was probably one of those in the ambulance), crawling under the ambulance to rescue the motorcyclist, who was apparently already dead.
In fact, he was heard to have put an end to any hope of his survival with just two words. “No… No, boys,” he told those present.”
